How do authors make their readers feel empathy?

Empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. It was a hard concept for me to understand at first because how are you supposed to know what there feeling when your not them. Now I realize as I started to write an empathy story that empathy is a deep feeling that really needs to be in a story.
Most authors right it so so much that they don't even have to think about but writers like me that just write during L.A a have to think more about it. I know this from writing my empathy story and struggling with the whole concept.

Most authors have empathy in there story's and that causes some of the best novels like Pride, and Prejudice, to Bridget Jones. They both have empathy but if they didn't they'd be boring, not very emotional, and you wouldn't relate.

I can think of three different ways to write empathy in my opinion. Number one is that maybe something in there past happened and they want to share it with the world and make them feel empathy. The second reason is that they want to sell the book and to do that it has to be interesting, and that means that they need empathy. The third and final reason is that when your writing how can you not write a bit of empathy in your story, it's fun.

Empathy is in almost every good book because it is so descriptive and interesting so even if you read every book in the world almost all will have empathy.
